IT services firm IGATE Corporation
announced the launch of the IGATE Corporate University, a new training
and development facility, in Pune. In addition to the corporate
university, the campus will also house a new software development block
and a customer experience center. The facility, set up at an investment
of $70 million, will run 260 training courses for employees across all
levels of the organization Ashok Vemuri, President & CEO, IGATE
said, "Each employee will have a mandatory number of training days a
year, and for some employees, mandatory teaching days. The facility will
drive research and innovation at IGATE."
The company has already has agreements with BITS Pilani, Symbiosis and
XLRI and will be looking at adding more over time. The residential
facility is among the largest such centers in Asia and will house
innovation labs and simulation centers. The software development block
will be completed in three phases and will house 5000 people over the
next 12-18 months.
