The competitive world has pushed every career aspirant into a rat
race. Students and mid-career professionals work towards getting the
best of educational degrees to survive this. Many of them invest huge
chunks of money with the hope of earning more in future. However, the US
Bureau of Labor Statistics has revealed surprising facts that employee
with just a high school diploma will earn about 50 per cent of what
those with a bachelor's or master's degree will make, on average.
Following are the companies where one doesn't need a college degree to get promoted quickly:
1) Apple Inc: The
company needs no introduction for its highly acclaimed quality brand.
Apple is the iconic tech company known for iPhone and other stylish
i-products which are user-friendly too. It is back in the top spot on
this year's list for the seventh year in a row. Apple is one of the most
valuable brands according to Interbrand, which brought in $171 billion
in revenues in financial year 2013. Apple has recently launched its
product namely iPhone 6. All of its product launch always generated
curiosity and debate in public. This tells something on how people rely
over this brand and its credibility. Employees working at the world's
best company are the most privileged ones as whatever the job they are
doing, they are likely to be part of something great.
2) Costco Wholesale: Costco Wholesale is the seventh largest retailer in the world, a multi-billion dollar global retailer with warehouse club operations in eight countries. It is headquartered in Issaquah, Washington, United States and was founded in 1976 in San Diego. At Costco, most of the employees begin their careers in the warehouse setting and become experts in Costco merchandising and operations. The company is also dedicated to recognising and rewarding employees for their hard work and loyalty. So, with all these traits in the employees, irrespective of their educational qualifications, they tend to prosper in their career.

3) Starbucks: Anyone
who is or is not a coffee lover is well associated with the name
Starbucks. The company was first launched in Seattle in 1971 and
presently spread over 16,300 locations across the globe and now India is
also on the list. While providing full benefits to part-time employees
too, the company is listed among the 100 best companies to work for.
Starbucks addresses its employees as their partners, though practically
they don't meet the criteria in true business sense. But the use of such
a strong word boosts up the employee motivation and creates a strong
bond between workers and the company itself. Starbucks employees are
provided benefits in packages to those who work a minimum of 20 hours
per week and that includes health, medical, dental and vision plans, a
401k, and access into Bean Stalk, the company's employee stock option
plan.
4)Chipotle Mexican Grill: Founded in 1993 by Steve
Ells, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. is a chain of restaurants in the
United States, and other countries of the world. When it comes to
promoting its employee to the higher post, this company is unlike other
fast food companies as nearly all of the leaders are promoted from the
crew level. There is a common trend that many restaurants hire
professional managers to run their business and almost never look at
their crews as leaders. But at Chipotle, most of its general managers
were promoted from the crews itself.
5)Publix: This company
is based in Florida. Publix is an employee-owned, premium American
supermarket chain. It is one company where high school grads are most
likely to get promoted with 140,000 people at its 1,080 retail
locations, cooking schools, corporate offices, eight grocery
distribution centers, and nine Publix brand manufacturing facilities. It
is a privately held business chain and has been ranked as the "69th
Best Company to Work For" by Fortune Magazine (2011). In terms of public
revenue, Publix is one of the largest food retailers in the world and
due to the way Publix has been carrying out their business, 64 per cent
of the employees support it to become one of the best companies in the
world.
