The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all-India examination administered and conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. Admission to post graduate programmes with MHRD and some other government scholarship/assistantship at engineering colleges/institutes in the country are open to those who qualify through GATE.

What is New in GATE 2015?
- Validity of GATE Scores has now been increased from 2 years to 3 years.
- All of the applications would have to be made online on GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. Hard copy of submissions is not required.
- Payments for GATE 2015 Examination Fees are to be made through SBI I-collect, Axis Bank I-Connect, e-challan facilities or debit cards/credit cards/netbanking.

NOTE: If a
candidate is pursuing any higher degree or already obtained a degree
higher than that mentioned in the above table, then the candidate can
select the relevant minimum required qualifying degree while filling the

Certificate from Principal
Candidates who have to submit a
certificate from their college Principal, as determined from above
Table, have to obtain one from his/her institution beforehand and upload
the same during the online submission of the application form.
Candidates with backlogs
Candidates who have appeared in
the final semester/year exam in 2014, but with a backlog
(arrears/failed subjects) in any of the papers in their qualifying
degree should
1. submit a copy of any one of the marks sheets of the final year,
OR
2. have to obtain a declaration from their Principal along with the signature and seal beforehand and upload the same during the online submission of the application form.

- Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Pharmacy (Post - Diploma / Post-B.Sc / 4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final year of such programs.
- Candidates in the final year of the Four-year Bachelor's degree program in science (B.S.) (Post-Diploma/4 years after 10+2).
- Master's degree holders in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programs.
- Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four year Integrated Master's degree program or (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering / Technology.
- Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five year Integrated Master's degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology.
- Candidates in the final year of Five-year integrated M.Sc. or Five year integrated B.S. - M.S. Program.
- Candidates with qualification obtained through examination conducted by professional AMIE by IE (I), AMICE (I) by ICE (I) as equivalent to B.E/B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.
