Fee fixation in nursing colleges in the two states has been put off
after more than half of the colleges failed to provide information
sought by the Admissions and Fee Regulatory Committee. This year was
also the first time that the recommendations of the AFRC were ignored by
both states for medical and dental courses fee fixation. Talk of
bifurcation of the AFRC has once again gained attention.
Sources said that the fee fixation, which is due in nursing colleges
this year, has been put off due to lack of information from colleges.
Only about 400 odd colleges of the total 1467 in the state have provided
information sought by the AFRC. Generally, if information sought by the
AFRC is not provided by a particular college prior to fee fixation, the
fee in that college is designated as zero.
“More than half of the nursing colleges have not furnished information
sought by AFRC. Fee fixation has been postponed for now. It is a first
time situation where so many colleges have not given information,” a
senior official said.
Recommendations of the AFRC were also ignored by the two governments
while fixing fee for medical and dental courses in Telangana and AP.
“This is the first time in ten- years that the recommendations of the
AFRC have been ignored,” the official said. Officials say that the two
governments might also resolve to bifurcate the AFRC to serve the two
states separately.
