Telangana minister for Information & Technology and Panchayat Raj K
Taraka Rama Rao said that the government would establish model schools
in every village which would impart quality education on par with
private schools.
Addressing principals and teachers of ICSE and ISC schools from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states at Geetanjali Devshala, Secunderabad here on 2nd September, the minister said that KG to PG free education programme will be flagged off in the academic year. Irrespective of the caste all children below the poverty line will be given free education in the state in the new scheme. The minister said that the state has dearth of quality teachers which has hampered quality education in the government schools. Rao urged the top rung private schools in Telangana to adopt government schools and provide them with quality education.
The minister said that in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, governments have successfully concentrated on gaining political mileage rather than the development aspects of the state. “Telangana is a new state; we have to start a new beginning. Education and health sectors are high on priorities for the government. e-learning would be introduced in the schools,” Rao informed.
Recalling about his school days, the minister said that he was proud to be a student of St George Grammar School. The minister said that a meeting would be chaired to resolve issue on implementation of RTE Act in the schools. A total of 104 ICSE and ISC school principals from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh State participated in the seminar. The seminar had a panel discussion on the topic ‘towards a safer school ethos’. The discussion was moderated by TS Sudhir, a media expert.
