Hyderabad: Kaveri Priya, a student of DPS, Nacharam, won Hyderabad’s own Spelling Bee on Friday.
Children from government and private schools competed in the fourth L’Open Vocab Contest 2014 finale, an annual contest. While the private schools won the main trophy and the first runners-up position, government schools bagged the second and third runners-up ranks.
A total of 1,000 students from 10 private schools and six government schools took part in the preliminary test and 60 students qualified for the knockout round. Tech Mahindra and Atlanta Foundation had organised the event. Kaveri Priya received a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 60,000.
Mihir Odhrani, from Howard Public School, was the first runners-up; Deepika from ZPHS Kothuguda School was the second runners-up and Mohan Krishna from CNN Tanda Government School was the third runners-up.
