As there is a lot of competition in this world, it is always necessary for the one to stay ahead and decide their career and plan accordingly because prior planning helps you for a better career shape.

There will be many questions in your mind and most of the students have confusion of doing a Job? or M.Tech? or MBA?. So let’s take this discussion further and even if you have decided something there is nothing wrong to explore additional options.

Campus Placements:

If you feel that already got bored of studying or don’t have an intention to study further or if you want to give a break for studies immediately after BE/B.Tech or if you want to start earning money then getting selected into a company with decent salary that visits your campus seems to be a good option. Getting into a job is always a preferable option because you find time to learn the things in corporate life which helps to judge whether you want to get into a technical stream or shift your interest from technical stream to management or some otherstream. Also job experience adds as an added advantage for further studies. 
What if I don’t have Campus Placement?
There are many Engineering colleges in India. Most of the colleges do have campus placements where companies visit your campus and hire the students. You might be thinking of what if I don’t have campus placement. In that case you have to start hunting for a job bit early before completion of your BE/B.Tech. You should have a proper planning as there is lot of competition outside for the jobs especially. The first and foremost thing you should do it prepare a resume.
Resume plays a vital role while attending interviews. Prepare and update your resume in all the job sites like Naukri, Monster and social networking job sites like LinkedIn . Also, there are alternative ways to get a job. There are exams like ELitmus, Amcat, etc. which helps companies in hiring employees for entry level jobs. All you need to do is schedule the date of exam, prepare well and give your best. Majority of the exams consists of aptitude and some part of technical questions. Attend off –campus drives, walk-ins that are suitable to you without missing any of them as each and every opportunity is considered as important for entry level position. There will be lot of openings in the cities from Bangalore to Pune, Pune to Delhi and Delhi to Noida, you should be prepared to travel and attend those if necessary. Do not feel bad or depressed if you are not selected for the job because each and every interview is considered as a learning experience so, learn from that experience and try to avoid them when you attend for the next interview.
Go for M.Tech Post Graduation:
If you have studied engineering out of passion or interested for higher education or if you want to gain higher positions then M.Tech is a good option. You can get into top reputed institutions by preparing well for the entrance exams. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national exam conducted in India which can fetch you admissions in IISC, IIT’s, NIT’s and many others

Do an MBA:
After studying four years of engineering, you might think that continuing in the same stream is a waste of time or you express no interest in doing a technical job or some of you are fascinated of doing an MBA or if you decide to change your area of study, stream then MBA is very good alternative. Doing an MBA helps you to make career in management sector, hold managerial positions. Ensure that you are doing MBA in a right place. You can explore and specialize your areas of interest in popular fields like HR, Sales, Marketing and the new growing domains like Digital Marketing, International relations etc. In India, there are various entrance exams like Common Admission Test (CAT) which lets you to get into IIMs and many other reputed institutes. Apart from CAT there are some other popular exams like Xaviers (XAT), NMAT, CMAT, SNAP, IRMA,TISS etc that will help you to get into top 30 MBA colleges.

Prepare for Civil Services:
If you want to see yourself as an IAS or IPS officer then you should opt for Civil Services. Some people are interested but leave the thought of preparing for Civil Services as it is very tough to crack. In fact, it is one of the toughest exams in the world to crack. There will be huge competition for Civil Service exam all over India and this is the exam which judges you on everything you can think of, who you are and what you stand for. Preparing for Civil Services Examination involves lots of determination and hard work. You need to believe in yourself and put your complete focus to prepare for Civil Services Examination.

Short term Courses after B.Tech:
It will be a better option if you attend short term courses after your B.Tech. There are various short term and diploma courses that are available in the market which you can opt after completion of your B.Tech. You can also make certifications in courses like VLSI, embedded technology, robotics, protocol testing, ethical hacking, machine designing etc or a diploma course in any of the specific domain. Doing such courses would be an added advantage as you can gain knowledge and stay updated with the technology and also to know industry standards which are helpful to get a job.

Entrepreneurship-Start your own:
If you have a dream to become a job provider or wanted to be your own boss then starting something of your own is a great option which can be any field like painting, writing, music, photography etc. You should be careful and need to think which option is best suitable for you as it involves more risk and gains. Being boss of your own doesn’t mean that life would be easy. You should be ready for the challenges as starting a venture of your own and making it succeed would be the toughest of all the things.

Go for MS:
If you want to explore or choose to study abroad then you can opt for MS. After completion of MS you might get a job at international locations and have plans to settle abroad permanently in the future.
 Along with MS you can also complete PhD and other research oriented courses. You can also apply for various scholarships which will fund your education partially or completely. You should start preparing for GRE, TOEFEL and apply for the universities that are suitable depending on the scores you obtain.

Join the Army:
If you feel strong support to your country or if you want to live your life for the nation then you can join Army, Navy, Air Force or any other wing related to defense services. 
You should be strong enough and getting into Army can be exciting and even high paying at same time and it is a pride to the country. You can join as a technical staff by applying through the University Entry Scheme (UES) or applying for flying positions in Indian Air force by clearing Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT). You can serve for the nation by joining Army. There are good facilities and a decent salary provided who join the army and serves the nation.

Be a Change Maker:
Some people fight for the right of others. You can also become a change maker where you can bring some positive change in other’s life by working for Non Governmental Organization or start your own profession that helps people or you can choose a career in journalism or opt for social research. You can also help people in your own profession for example if you are a doctor, treat people and if you are an engineer innovative for the mass and if you are lawyer fight for the rights etc.

Explore the artist in you:
Imagine what happens if your passion becomes profession. How exciting it would be? There are many options ranging from photography, painting, astrology, performing arts, writing or Yoga etc. Try to achieve it. If you are interested in photography then try to capture nature and wild life and explore the things.

By choosing your passion, you will never feel sad of doing something that you never liked and you would live every moment happily doing what you love. It is your life, take a decision have that matters, have faith in yourself and do hard work because what matters in the end is that you are happy about what you have done and what you are doing. One day you will definitely succeed in your life.
